What Is A Podcast Show Graphic
A podcast show graphic is a visual representation of a podcast, typically in the form of an image or artwork that is used to identify and promote the show. It can be a custom-designed logo, a photo of the host or hosts, or an illustration that reflects the content or theme of the podcast. The show graphic is often used as the thumbnail or cover art for the podcast on various platforms, such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast directories. The goal of a podcast show graphic is to capture the attention of potential listeners and communicate the essence of the podcast in a visually appealing way.
Show Graphic Best Practices
When designing your podcast show graphic, LESS is more. The show graphic is seen as a small thumbnail on podcast apps. Designs with poor image resolution, too many fonts, or too many graphic elements can hurt your perceived credibility. Less is more and clean is better. Another critical thing to remember is “podcast” is not needed in your show title or graphic. It’s like adding “book” on the cover of your book with the title – it’s redundant and unnecessary. When people see your show graphic, they look at your show among podcasts on a podcast app. Similarly, you do not need a photo of yourself with a microphone! It’s cheesy and does not help your credibility, especially if the mic in the photo is different from the industry standard. A mic can make your show graphic look dated.

Professional Photo Guide
If you are serious about your show, it’s worth getting professional photos done that you can use for your show graphic, website, and other marketing collateral or promotion materials. We recommend getting various photos – you don’t only want headshots because it limits you significantly in the design process if you only have photos of a floating head.
You don’t need to be anything but yourself! You don’t need to lose weight first or change anything. People show up to the podcast for YOU, and you’re enough.
Photos To Take:
- Headshots
- Portraits waist up (arms showing)
- Full body photos
- Photos with clean backgrounds
- Photos in nature/downtown/etc. that match the VIBE of your brand
- Landscape and horizontal images
- Avoid props
What To Wear:
- Wear something that has “longevity” and won’t look out of style too quickly
- Dress to your personality and the aesthetic of your show
- Consider brand colors
- Less is more unless your brand is “MORE”
